The Speech and Debate Club held a carwash fundraiser to raise money for their club, The fundraiser was at Yoasis on January 20th.
“For this fundraiser we wanted to raise around $1,000 but honestly we just wanted to get as much as we possibly can,” said Braydon Ives.
Speech and debate is an academic activity that features different public speaking such as presentation or job interviews. and requires skill and talent. There are three types of public speaking that is used in speech and debate:

Persuasive- uses a set of methods when used correctly, will allow the speaker to persuade the audience to adopt a new thought, idea, concept, or way of doing things.

Informative- to inform the audience of the information that is being presented. It requires a context that will allow the audience to take in the information and make it helpful.

Motivational- uses stories and illustrations, to engage the audience and share with the audience a lesson or moral that will inspire and have an impact on those who are listening.

“Were like a family and it helps with different skills all around,” said Ives.
You can learn many things from speech and debate such as facts about various things such as dates of a certain event, names of people who were involved.
