Freddie Martin

If you play football, run track or have ever been in trouble with attendance, you will know Mr. Freddie Martin.

Originally from Pennsylvania, moving to Arizona two years ago was a big change for Martin. Hoping to be a guidance counselor when he first got to Desert Vista, the job was already taken. Luckily, he had all of the credentials to become an attendance coordinator, which is his current occupation.

Martin coaches the running backs in JV football in the fall. In the spring, he coaches the sprinters and the jumpers in track. Playing both of those sports in high school, he is educated enough to coach them.

“Football and track give you a lot of discipline in a way that shows you how to talk to people, what to do and what not to do,” said Martin.

With an undergraduate degree in psychology, Martin’s next step is to either get his administrative certificate or a Ph.D in sports psychology. By next school year, there is a possibility he could be a counselor at Desert Vista.

Martin has been married to his wife for 8 years. He has one child with his current wife and two children from a previous relationship. Martin is very happy in his marriage and believes everything in his life is going great right now.

“When you get to the point when life is just easy, you know what you have to do and everyone is bringing something to the table, it’s a pretty beautiful thing.”
