Plane Crash

Plane Crash

Andreas Lubitz, a 27-year-old male, crashed a Germanwing plane into the French Alps on March 24, 2015. Habibalah Hassani, a pizza shop owner who knew Lubitz, refuses to believe that he would have deliberately killed himself and his passengers.

“Lubitz would often come in here wearing his athletic gear; he was always running or jogging,” said Hassani. “He was very healthy. He never bought alcohol.”

Lubitz, who had been battling depression for many years, purposely hid medical papers that included information declaring him unfit to fly. Soon after, he took to the sky only to come crashing down along with the 150 passengers who had put their trust in him.

Investigators are now referring to Lubitz’s crash as “premeditated murder” because he voluntarily lowered the plane towards the mountain and reduced its speed to prevent alarms from going off.

According to authorities, Lubitz had searched online for cockpit door security and suicide methods just days before the crash, making it seem as if he deliberately killed himself as well as the 150 passengers on board.

The cockpit voice recorder and black box, along with passenger DNA from the crash site, has led to an ongoing investigation of Lubitz’s mental health and motivation.
