Cheery for the cheer season!

Tryouts for the Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleaders for the 2017-2018 school year began on Monday, March 20th. DV is not wasting any time finding out who will lead the school in spirit next year.

“It is a lot different from freshman tryouts,” freshman Aliyah Ivey said, “There’s a lot more people so it kind of makes you nervous. Yesterday was only the first day and it was not that hard but we don’t know what they have us doing for the rest of the week.”

Even girls who have been cheering for years and have already been through this experience are nervous. Former cheerleaders from this year are ready to work hard at try outs to make sure that they impress the Junior Varsity or Varsity coaches.

“Tryouts are very exciting for me and it really makes me look forward to next season,” freshman Briana Gilchrist said, “I can’t wait, I have been really bored during these couple of off weeks.”

Cheerleaders are excited to get back on the sidelines next year to cheer on our favorite Thunder athletes, from football to basketball. After qualifying for State for the first time ever this year, the girls are more excited than ever to see what they can do next season.
“We are really going to miss our seniors that are graduating this year,” freshman Briana Gilchrist said, “They were so great this season and so helpful to the new freshmen.”
