DV Donates

On Saturday March 18th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am in the Student Parking lot at DVHS, DV had a Goodwill donation drive. They accepted all articles of clothing and a variety of other valuables too. This included furniture, musical instruments, and sports equipment. They also accepted the usual shirts, dresses, pants, skirts, and other types of clothing and accessories as well. This was a great opportunity to clean out your closet and get rid of some clothes and extra items you may have had laying around in your house. The goal was to get as many items as possible to donate to Goodwill, and DV came up with an easy way for all students to take the time to think about what they wanted to give away.

“I think it’s good DV hosted this donation drive, this was a great, easy, and fun way to give away items that you don’t use anymore, and give those items a greater purpose for someone else.”

Says Karly Makay, freshman class spirit director.

Giving back to your community by donating clothes is such a great thing. When you throw clothes away that have no purpose for you anymore, but could for someone else, they are picked up by trash services and left in a nearby landfill. But by donating those items you are giving someone with little money a chance to have a variety of clothing and accessory options for a great price, much less than if you would have gone straight to the department store it originally was distributed from.

“Not everybody is blessed with money, and donation stores help them realize that they are not alone and people are there to help them out. It’s all about community!” Says freshman Kharizia Ramos.
