Secret to Loving Science

It’s no secret that the majority of students aren’t fond of science class.

In fact, according to a 2016 study, 81% of students said they were interested in science but only 37% said they actually enjoy their science class. So, how does a science teacher help kids to have fun in class but also teach the students what they need? We asked some of our science teachers and fellow students. They share their thoughts with us.

“I’ve been teaching here at Desert Vista for 12 years, I’ve been teaching for close to 15 years,” said Cassandra Cline. “Try to keep the environment within the classroom non stressful but keep kids accountable at the same time.”

This is how Cline keeps her class engaged but fun at the same time.

Bayleigh Seymour is a freshman here at Desert Vista. She says she likes her science class and enjoys her science class. So, what is her teacher doing to keep her engaged? “I think she jokes around a lot but she also enjoys teaching us,” Seymour said.

This is just one example of how Desert Vista science teachers are making class fun while  providing their students with the tools they need to learn. I’m Quinn Boardman for DVTV News.
