High school basketball rule changes

High school basketball rule changes

At the beginning of the regulation season for high school basketball, AIA created new regulations to make the game of basketball less physical. To be honest, it did not really help, it just made the game more susceptible to unreasonable foul calls and unbelievable offensive fouls. As I will explain in a moment, the game of basketball has just became soft.

To begin, in the new rules and regulations, it states that even the slightest touch of hand is called for a hand check. Hand check counts as a personal fouls and also as team fouls. If any team on the court has seven or more team fouls the opposing team goes to the foul line.

This new rule automatically changes the game because team fouls and even personal fouls rack up, making it much easier to foul out, or getting five fouls which automatically benches the player, and the games are scoring higher than ever before.

A lot of the coaches and especially players are fussing about it. I say the rule is okay to add because the player could be affected by the foul. But, another factor is the referees, the sometime make terrible calls. And unfortunately this rule is just a silly excuse to calls unfair fouls and be biased towards teams.
