Should Euthanasia be legal?

Euthanasia, or assisted suicide has been medical taboo for quite a while now, but researchers are not entirely sure whether assisted suicide should be legal.

People who argue for having a doctor “put them to sleep” proclaim that if a person is sick, they are not in the right state of mind and they are likely not to make it long anyway.  Another thinks that if a person wants to die they should have the choice whether they live or not.

Those against euthanasia argue that giving the government power to a person or group of people and making them able to kill another group of people.

Although, one might think people should choose whether or not they wish to live it creates a lot of problems as well.  People that would be considered eligible for assisted suicide have very distorted visions, they are not capable of making a sound decision, they should not be trusted with making important decisions especially a decision that could mean life or death.

Those for euthanasia say that no one has a right to say when you die, if a person is sick enough they should decide when they die.  Just as women should no longer have to resort to back-alley dangerous abortions, people should no longer have to end their lives secretly and painfully hidden away from their loved ones.

Although the topic is still under hot debate, euthanasia could become part of the norm just like many modern things that we thought would remain taboo.
