Why Desert Vista’s S 30th st. deserves a bike lane

For many students that commute to school on a bike, it is important that a bike lane is present for them to ride through. Many times, sidewalks that lead to their schools are clogged with students; those walking, being driven to school, or whatever the cause may be. At Desert Vista High School, many students are dropped off and picked up by cars that reside on S 30th st., a common route for commute. However, S 30th st that connects to Desert Vista lacks a bike lane, creating a problem for those that bike to school using this route.

I myself am a biker who uses this route, and often find trouble in riding my bike to and from school on S 30th st. Many times, I have to find a way to swerve around the students that encompass the congested sidewalks and turn to the road, an unsafe passage full of moving cars. This is a problem that not only I but many others experience on a daily basis. Having a bike lane will not only provide a way for bikers to get past these troubles easier, but reduce risk for accidents on the road, hitting students on the sidewalk, and much more. Due to all of these collective issues, I believe that Desert Vista can benefit from a bike lane on S 30th st.
