Students Should be Able to Grade Their Teachers

Every student has had a teacher who is either not invested in their job or not capable of teaching effectively. This is extremely unfortunate because students attend school to learn new things and further their education. If a teacher is not qualified for their job or not devoted to teaching it could ruin a student’s grade or learning experience. If students were able to grade teachers it would improve the school system and allow for better teachers.

“By giving a teacher feedback they can better the learning environment,” says freshman Skylar Perry. “When students voice their opinions in a constructive way, teachers can better teach the students and mold the curriculum to fit certain needs of the classroom.”

When students are having a hard time with the way a professor is teaching, they can give solutions to improve the learning environment. This is much more effective than the current system. It provides insight on both sides and allows for a common ground. If this were the case grades could go up and it would result in less frustrated students.

A student grading system would be extremely effective and would inflict good habits on both students and teachers. Students would be allowed to voice their frustrations while teachers would be able to adjust their teaching methods/curriculum accordingly. Grades would most likely improve and the learning environment would be better off. This mutual grading system provides little downside as well.
