Bringing yoga into the school environment

Yoga is a form of discipline that has been taught and practiced for centuries. It promotes calmness, peacefulness, wisdom, and patience. For students who are always in a haste, these attributes would benefit them greatly, which is why students should practice yoga.

Yoga classes are offered at Desert Vista High School and students are taught about the art of yoga and fitness. Many of the students who sign up for yoga mainly do so to get an easy P.E. credit or for the rumored “weekly naps.” but yoga is much more beneficial than students think.

Students should look into joining Yoga and Fitness at school, or even try to start practicing it on their own because the positive outcome is something to look forward to. Learning numerous breathing techniques and stretches can improve a high schooler’s frame of mind in certain situations. Whether they are feeling tired, anxious, or stressed, there is a breath for almost every case. Yoga also greatly benefits student athletes and studious students. Yoga helps manage stress and regulate breathing.

Stress is a major obstacle in a high schooler’s life, but yoga is a good tool that can be used to reduce and relieve that issue. Yoga and breathing exercises are also good for clearing the mind and increasing happiness. Not only would yoga benefit students mentally, but it would benefit them physically as well. Yoga is an easy way to stay healthy without doing too much of a vigorous workout. Yoga keeps you energetic and fit, while calming and strengthening the mind. High schoolers should start practicing yoga to better their mind and body.
