On Saturday Nov. 21 the rivalry between the Sun Devils and the Wildcats continued. The Sun Devils beat the Wildcats once again 52-37 at Sun Devil Stadium. The rivalry is also known as the Duel In The Desert which started Nov. 30, 1899. In which the Sun Devils won the first Territorial Cup against the Wildcats 11-2. The winner who won the rivalry each year would receive the Territorial Cup.

It was later endorsed as the original cup by the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA), making it the oldest rivalry game trophy in college football.

The cup’s name refers to the fact that Arizona was  U.S. territory at the time while it became a state in 1912. Even though this rivalry is not the longest, it is seen as the oldest rivalry.
