Freshman on her way to victory

Desert Vista freshman Rimona Rouf is one of only two freshman on varsity tennis this season. Rouf is also currently playing the number one spot for Desert Vista tennis.

“It is just really cool playing at Desert Vista,” says Rouf, “I am enjoying playing the number one spot so it is a lot pressure but it is still very fun.”

Rimona is unsure about playing for the Desert Vista team for the remainder of her high school years but is enjoying playing now. Rouf also says that the team works well together and that they were friends before this season started.

“My first plan was to just play this year,” says Rouf, “I will try it out to see how it is and if we become successful by the end of this season I might do it again. The team plays really well together and we also did all know each other before high school so we all have a really strong chemistry.”

Sophomore Holly Hansen has known Rimona since she began playing and noticed that she has improved at this sport immensely.

“She has gotten so much better,” says Hansen, “She is such a nice person and she is just so good at tennis. I`m glad that I get to call myself a friend of hers. She also definitely has a future in tennis.”

Rouf has been playing tennis for a total of  seven years and is playing her first year of tennis at Desert Vista this year.

Rimona says that her overall experience with Desert Vista tennis so far has been amazing and that she would not trade it for anything.
“ It has just been really fun getting to know everyone,” says Rouf, “Playing as a team is such a great experience!”
